Ralph Ineson Joins ‘Fantastic Four’ as Galactus

Renowned for his roles in ‘The Witch’ and ‘Game of Thrones,’ Ralph Ineson is in negotiations to portray the formidable villain Galactus for Marvel Studios.

Ralph Ineson, the British actor with a career spanning three decades, from the iconic Harry Potter series to recent horror hits like The First Omen, has secured the pivotal role of Galactus in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, The Fantastic Four.

This high-profile project, marking the Fantastic Four’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been finalizing its cast in preparation for a mid-summer shoot in England.

Confirmed on the roster are Perdro Pascal as scientist Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as her fiery brother Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richards’ friend grappling with physical transformations, Ben Grimm/The Thing. Additionally, Julia Garner is set to play a female Silver Surfer, with Paul Walter Hauser taking on an undisclosed role that has sparked theories about characters like Mole Man or the robot H.E.R.B.I.E. John Malkovich has also been announced as part of the cast.

Ineson will embody Galactus, an extraterrestrial entity that consumes the life essence of entire planets. However, he might have underestimated the resistance he’ll face from Earth’s defenders.

In Marvel comics lore, Galactus, conceived by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, is depicted as a colossal humanoid figure. He first appeared on screen in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, portrayed as a CGI-rendered cosmic entity, a portrayal that received mixed reactions from audiences.

Matt Shakman is helming this new iteration of Fantastic Four, a bold move by Marvel to set the story in the 1960s, the era of the super-team’s origin. The screenplay credits go to Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer, with Peter Cameron (known for his work on WandaVision) also contributing.

Currently, Ineson can be seen in 20th Century’s The First Omen as a priest and recently played a significant role in Gareth Edwards’ The Creator. His previous works include Robert Eggers’ Viking drama The Northman, and he’s collaborating again with Eggers for the vampire thriller Nosferatu, featuring a star-studded cast including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Bill Skarsgard, and Willem Dafoe, set for release in December. Ineson is also filming Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein alongside Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, and Christoph Waltz.
