The 97th Academy Awards brought a mix of surprises, record-breaking moments, and emotional speeches.

The biggest winner of the night was Anora, securing five out of six awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Sean Baker, tying him with Walt Disney for most Oscars won in one night.

Best Picture: Anora  

Best Director: Sean Baker (Anora)  

Best Actor: Adrien Brody (The Brutalist)  

Best Actress: Mikey Madison (Anora)  

Best Supporting Actor: Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain)  

Best Supporting Actress: Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez)  

 

Other standout winners included Dune: Part Two for Best Sound and Visual Effects, Wicked dominating the Costume and Production Design categories, and The Brutalist taking Best Cinematography and Original Score.  

 

The evening, hosted by Conan O’Brien, featured unforgettable performances, including a Wicked medley, a James Bond tribute, and a musical homage to Quincy Jones. Emilia Pérez, the most nominated film of the year with 13 nods, won only two awards, showcasing the unpredictability of the Academy’s final choices.  

 

With Anora making history and The Brutalist securing multiple wins, this year’s Oscars proved to be an exciting celebration of cinema, rewarding bold storytelling and outstanding performances.
